Test Week 2010 Bicycle Rides
Sign up for any one of 4 rides offered this year, all beginning and ending at the Hampton Cove Golf Course Parking Lot. The rides range from a very leisurely 12-miler to a challenging and brisk 41-miler. All rides will tour the beautiful Alabama countryside east of Huntsville.
Ride Beta: A leisurely 22-mile ride at an average speed of 8-10 miles per hour. Flat terrain.
Ride Gamma: A leisurely-to-brisk 27-miler at an average speed of 10-12 miles per hour. Flat-to-rolling terrain.
Ride Delta: A challenging, brisk 41-miler at an average speed of 12-16 miles per hour. This ride includes a difficult climb of approximately 1 mile at an 8-10% grade about half way into the ride, followed by a very fast downhill stretch. Rolling terrain.
The rides begin promptly at 9:00am on Monday, June 14. Prior to the roll-off, a group photo will be taken that will be shown as part of the Test Week conference slide shows. The rides will be led by members of the local Spring City Cycle Club. Each ride will have a dedicated ride leader familiar with the course. Each course will be marked by paint on the road surface, and maps will also be provided. Refreshments will be available at the start, midpoint, and end of the rides by ERC Corporation. Rental bikes will be provided again this year by Madison Cycles (Steve Swann). On the form, please indicate whether you prefer a town cruiser (upright handle bars), a hybrid (mix of cruiser and road bike), or a road bike. Also indicate pedal type (regular, toe clip/strap, or clip-in). Any special orders will be filled by Steve Swann as best as he can. Helmets will also be provided.
Souvenir t-shirts will be provided to each participant.
To offset the expanding nature of this event, a fee of $10 per participant is required.
